Bangkok Trip - Ramada International Cup

The Goal Academy recently returned from a trip to Thailand to compete in our second overseas tournament. The Ramada International Cup organised by Can U Kick It took place in Bangkok on Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd November. (check out tournament photos)

The GA U8s and U10s, cheered on admirably by their enthusiastic parents in the 'GA Barmy Army', performed brilliantly throughout the entire weekend. On the first day, both teams suffered nervy starts but bounced back excellently to show great fight and determination. The U8s, led superbly by their heroic captain Azfar, put in some tough displays against more experienced opposition whilst the U10s soon settled into their passing game and notched up two excellent wins, narrowly missing out on qualification for the cup competition.

"Good Game!" After regrouping by the pool on Saturday evening, the boys entered Sunday in high spirits, determined to do well. It was to be a morning of high drama for The Goal Academy. The U10s were sadly knocked out at the semi-final stage by eventual winners Sports Beijing but not before giving us the highlight of the tournament - a thrilling '1 v 1' Golden Goal win over compatriots Little League, thanks to our Finnish 'Wonderkid' Roope!!!

The U8s managed to go one better, making it all the way to the final thanks to some fantastic defending and inspirational goals from captain Azfar. Sadly, the boys lost 1-0 to hosts CUKI A, conceding a heartbreaking last-minute goal just when it looked like another extra-time Golden Goal win was on the cards.

The Goal Academy would like to thank all of you who made the trip such a success and we hoped you enjoyed it as much as we did. We're already looking forward to our next overseas trip!!!
