The winners of The Goal Academy's 2007 Short Story Competition are:

Alyssa Wong Li-En (15): ‘Anyone Can Play Football’

The Goal Academy invited children aged 6 – 16 to write short stories on the theme of ‘Football For All’ - that football should be open to all, not just the strongest, fastest and fittest. The theme is one of The Goal Academy’s key values and is central to our coaching programmes and community scheme.

Entries were judged on imagination and inventiveness, accuracy of language and expression and capture of the competition theme.

The winning entries all captured the competition theme perfectly, though each in their own way. The language and expression used was invariably of the highest standard and each writer showed great imagination and creation throughout.
